First determine the volume of the steel drum. If it contains liquid, it is calculated according to the specific gravity of the product, but 10% of the space must be left to prevent the steel drum from cracking when it is dropped and deformed, and the product from cracking due to thermal expansion. If you want to hold solids, you need to ask the steel drum manufacturer to provide a certain volume of steel drums for trial loading, and then convert them into steel drums with the required volume, but you must also leave a certain amount of space for lining with plastic bags to prevent steel drums from cracking when they fall out of shape. If you want to hold low-boiling products, you should fully consider that such products have vapor pressure at a certain temperature, and the liquid vapor pressure increases with the increase of temperature. In addition, it is necessary to consider the temperature difference between the product filling temperature and the maximum storage and transportation temperature that the steel drum may encounter after the product is filled, which will cause the volume expansion of the product and cause internal pressure in the steel drum. The sum of these two pressures cannot be greater than the allowable internal pressure of the steel drum, otherwise the steel drum will burst. Steel drums are allowed to withstand internal pressure, see the commodity inspection certificate for details, or consult the steel drum manufacturer. If the user's filling temperature is high, the minimum temperature for storage and transportation must be considered. The temperature difference will cause negative pressure in the steel drum, which will cause the steel drum to suck or collapse when it is touched.
Secondly, to determine the inner coating, the user can provide various inner coating samples by the steel drum manufacturer to conduct a compatibility immersion test for more than 6 months and similar environmental conditions for storage and transportation, to analyze whether the coating has changed and whether the pigment contained in the coating has been dissolved. After that, the user can determine and choose the appropriate type of inner coating. Products with a moisture content of more than 5% are not suitable for packaging in epoxy phenolic, polytetrafluoroethylene, or pure phenolic paint steel drums. There is a protective layer of mineral oil on the surface of the board without internal coating, please pay attention to the impact on your product. The steel drum is made of cold-rolled sheet as the basic raw material. Since the thickness of the cold-rolled sheet has a rolling error, the steel drum has a corresponding weight error. During the production process of steel barrels, there will inevitably be odors in the barrels, so customers should pay attention when choosing them. The coil lining roll of the closed barrel should be determined according to the user's product, and different materials should be used. The user can provide lining rolls of different materials by the steel drum supplier to conduct a compatibility soaking test for more than one month and similar environmental conditions for storage and transportation. After analyzing the swelling and deformation, the user can determine the type of lining material to be selected.
